PLACE OF ASSEMBLY CERTIFICATE OF OPERATION
Public Assembly permit is required for a gathering of more than 75 persons. This permit is to ensure that the establishments have followed the rules and regulations concerning fire hazards and safety.
Place of Assembly application and approval is processed by the NYC Department of Buildings. Upon issuance of the Place of Assembly Certificate of Operation, the building shall create an account with FDNY for annual inspection and payment of filing fees.
HVAC SYSTEMS ~ EQUIPMENT USE PERMIT
HVAC Systems installed on the roof structure of the building or the wall on property line are subject to DOB rules and regulations. Installation of HVAC systems requires a job application filing and a Mechanical work permit. At the completion of the installation, and inspection, the job application has to be signed off. Upon sign off, the Equipment Use Permit shall be issued by the NYC Department of Buildings.
The copy of Equipment Use Permit must be posted on the equipment for inspection. Failure to obtain the Equipment Use Permit for each of the HVAC may result in FDNY Notice of Violation.
FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM (ANSUL SYSTEM FOR COMMERCIAL KITCHEN HOOD)
Restaurants are required to have Fire Suppression Systems to protect from fire caused by grease on open flame cooking equipment. Fire Suppression systems application filing is to be submitted to FDNY. After obtaining the plan examination approval, the Fire Suppression contractor may install the complete fire suppression systems. Upon completion of installation and FDNY inspections, Ansul letter will be issued by FDNY.
